As wheat harvest season wrapped up across the Pacific Northwest last month, our team worked tirelessly to bring the 2026 Pacific Northwest crop quality testing season to a successful close. Over the summer we collected, prepared, and analyzed more than 500 wheat samples from across the region, with a final weekly harvest report released on September 10 with this year’s cumulative crop quality findings. This work provides valuable information to growers, exporters, millers, and customers around the world. Once gathered, our team composited and tested the accumulated samples and then conducted end product tests and analysis in preparation for the publication of the 2026 Harvest Soft White Wheat Quality Report, scheduled to be released in mid-October.
September also highlighted WMC’s role as the bridge between growers and customers through education and outreach. For example, we hosted an Oregon Future Farmers of America (FFA) delegation, welcoming Oregon FFA state officers for a presentation and facility tour, where they learned how high quality Pacific Northwest wheat moves from farm to customer around the globe.
International engagement remained a major focus in September as we welcomed trade teams and guests from Japan, Taiwan, The Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, China, and most recently a delegation from the Japan Biscuit Association. These international trade team visits provide an opportunity to share insights into U.S. wheat quality, research, technical services, and end-use performance, while sharing real-time data about the current year’s crop quality.
