Caryn Nelson recently joined the team as the Executive Assistant/Office Manager of the Wheat Marketing Center in Portland Oregon. Prior to joining the team, she co-founded and co-owned a Portland-based coffee roastery and café with three retail locations. In her role leading the human resources and operations of a growing company over ten years, she was able to apply her background working in community service with her education in hospitality.

Her previous service to the food community included as a volunteer at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market, Oregon Food Bank, and Growing Gardens. She enjoys the opportunities that working with food and beverage creates with people across the world.

Caryn earned her Associate’s in food and beverage management, and her Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Portland State University. She is excited to be in a support role in nonprofit administration with the Wheat Marketing Center where she can assist the staff, members, board members and stakeholders in fulfilling the mission of the organization.
