This week the team welcomes Andrew Choi, WMC’s new seasonal Laboratory Assistant to help with this year’s crop quality (CQ) process. WMC supports the annual CQ effort to evaluate the quality of the new crop. As harvest begins in the Pacific Northwest, samples are collected and sent to WMC for testing. Liman Liu, Assistant Operations Manager, leads the team that tests hundreds of samples over a three-month period. Results are shared in a weekly crop reports by class and production zone. The soft white and hard white wheat data is incorporated into USW Annual CQ Report, and a PNW Soft White Wheat Quality Report sponsored by the PNW commissions is produced detailing out grain, flour, and end use quality.
