This week WMC Executive Director Mike Moran travels to North Dakota for the Wheat Quality Council Hard Spring and Durum Wheat Tour. During the tour over 50 volunteers from across the food industry survey fields throughout the state to assess crop quality and forecast yields for hard red spring (HRS) and Durum wheat. These tours are an annual event watched closely by buyers of the highly valued US grown HRS and Durum. Technical Director Dr. Jayne Bock and the team host the U.S. Wheat Associates Southeast Asia Contracting for Wheat Value workshop on Tuesday and a Southeast Asian Trade Team organized on Thursday. WMC hosts almost weekly international teams of buyers, miller, and food manufacturers during the harvest season to provide up to date information about crop conditions and the value advantage of U.S. grown wheat in a wide range of foods around the world.
